The Far-Reaching Benefits Of The Before Exercise Warm Up?
The Benefits
These are what I get from doing a before exercise warm up, properly:
It increases my oxygen and blood flow, warms up my muscles and saves me from injury .
I always thought that warm up exercise, be it I'm doing cardio or toning exercise, isn't worth my effort and time doing it because it's not important.
I didn't know just how crucial it is....or how far-reaching the benefits.....
Until I got injuries in my muscles!
Then only I caught on the drift that this exercise is very important!
I think probably you're like me as well - the only injuries you've had while exercising would come when you didn't warm up properly and forced a muscle to do something it was capable of, but not ready to do!
Gosh! This goes to show just how important it is that you do warm up exercise!
So, start your cardio or toning workout routine with a proper warm-up exercise session of about 5 minutes, doing any activity that can get your heart rate up and make your body warmer.
This before exercise warm up session increases your oxygen and blood flow to your working muscles and warms them up by increasing your core body temperature, thus reducing the risk of injury.
What Warm up Exercises to do?
Marching in place, biking, skipping rope and brisk walking are good warm-up exercises.
My favorite warm up exercise is marching in place as it's the easiest and most convenient to do.
This is how it's done:
Lift up your knees and pump your arms, marching slowly at first, then gradually increase the tempo until you're marching at a faster pace at the end of the 3-5 minute warm up session.
This simple warm up exercise should get your body warm up, your blood flowing to your whole body and prepare you for the exercises ahead.
You should start the warm up exercise by keeping the range of motion and intensity level low until your body is properly warmed up.
Remember, the purpose is to warm your body and prevent injury that can put you out of exercise for a few weeks and make you lose momentum and interest in exercise completely.
It Pays to do a Proper Before Exercise warm up
Look at these pay-backs:
Avoids a build-up of lactic acid, hence you can work longer without having to stop
Minimizes the chance of you having an abnormal heart beat
Increases flexibility of your muscles, tendons and ligaments and prepares your body for more vigorous exercise ahead
So there.
Don't ever skip your warm up exercise!
