    2. Ensuring your child uses proper protective gear for each activity or exercise, like proper shoes, gloves, helmets and so on
    3. Reminding your child not to over-exercise as it can lead to stress in his/her muscles which can lead to muscle soreness or muscle cramps or even muscle injury
    4. Seeking medical help if your child is limping after exercise, or if muscle soreness lasts throughout the day or night.

      If your child is laid off by an injury, he/she shouldn't get back into exercise until totally pain-free

Don't force, push or "preach" your child into activities he/she doesn't like! If your child learns that exercise is a hard, boring chore, he/she will likely not do it.

Don't force your child into rigid rules about exercise like we adults - exercise in the morning, 3 times per week, for 30 minutes per session, without fail!

Your child will run away!

Encourage him/her to have flexible time to exercise - in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening, when he/she feels like doing it, as long as it's done on regular basis, for a duration of 20 - 30 minutes per session.

When you as a father or mother or as parent gets involved in your child's exercise, he/she is 3 times more active than a child with inactive parents.

Research has shown that kids who begin strength-training programs have healthier hearts, stronger bones, and lower risks of developing diseases when they're adults. It can also help reduce body fat.

  • If you're worried about improper supervision, then get your child into a program run by an instructor who's qualified to train children.

    The instructor should have a C-S-C-S degree and has worked with children before. An instructor should have no more than 10 kids in a class for closer and tighter supervision

  • If you're concerned your child uses improper technique such as lifting a weight the wrong way or working out on a machine designed for adults (which can cause muscle tear or growth plate damage), then the instructor's role is very crucial here to make sure your child understands what has been taught him/ her
  • If you're anxious about your child getting injured especially soft-tissue injury (soft tissue is anything that's not bone) and growth plate damage, then make sure he/she is not lifting too much, and rest between exercises
