What this actually means is this - is green tea a fat burner or does green tea burn fat?
OK. Let me say this - I'm no fan of green tea but I'm actually quite fascinated that there's such a craze now in the market about it. Tops, if you're observant enough, green tea is THE INGREDIENT included in most weight loss products.....
The marketers tout green tea as one of the "best" fat burners that's ever exists!
They tell you green tea is good for weight loss; a good antioxidant, prevents cancer......
But is that really so? Green tea fat burner?
May be I should start from green tea's fat-burning ability first.
Asides the good virtues mentioned above, green tea is a source of caffeine and usually replaces the caffeine component in the fat burner make up.
(Note: Caffeine is a fat burner)
This makes it a good fat burner in and of itself.
Goodness of Green Tea
But apparently, green tea's goodness is more than just burning fat.
According to studies, it is also helpful in many other ways:
It helps to speed up your metabolism, so you burn off more calories
It's active ingredient (called epigallocatechin gallate; oh my, a mouthful word indeed.... ) may be up to 200 times more powerful than vitamin E as an oxidant
It slows down the increase in your blood sugar following a meal, hence would be useful to regulate your blood sugar level.
It decreases the action of a digestive enzyme known as amylase -an important enzyme that breakdowns carbs. We all know carbs can cause your blood sugar levels to shoot up following a meal
It seems we do get more from Green Tea Fat Burner
Can you use green tea to lose weight?
To a certain extent, yes, but.... you can't just gun on it alone.
Exercise and a healthy diet are still your primo weight loss program. Green tea, if included, would be the extra "power" that could leapfrog your results......
If you want to give it a shot (i.e. to help you lose weight),I suppose you could start drinking green tea instead of your normal coffee or tea.
However, don't expect to lose an outrageous amount of weight through it.
My 2 cents-worth - go for it if you want.
After all, if it doesn't really help you much to lose weight, it still has other health promoting properties you could benefit from.
