Your Intention And Motivation In Buying Home Gym Exercise Equipment?

Be careful, sometimes your purchase of home gym exercise equipment could be due to "impulsive purchase", "rush purchase", "purchase under pressure" because your friend got one or because of salesman's "hard sell" tactic......

Oh, well, I'd fallen into these "traps". Ahemmmm....Speaking from experience.....

What I'm talking about is home exercise equipment that's a bit sophisticated in nature, that may be you want to buy to add to your collection of equipment for your home gym .

These types of exercise equipments have one thing in common: pricey.

It's no joke when you've to fork out $4000 or more to buy 1 or 2 pieces.

So, you really, really have to be clear about your intention and motivation to use the bought equipment to exercise, you know, whether it's toning , cardios or strength training .........

Again, talking from experience....

Just because I've bought the home gym exercise equipment, doesn't mean that I'm now motivated to use it.....

The motivation comes from within me, not because I've bought the equipment or how much I've spent on it!

My all time, seasoned advice - exercise, with or without equipment, is essential for good health and I've got to do it!

Exercise with equipment, my exercise is enhanced.

Exercise without equipment, my exercise is still as effective.

So, you've to weigh whether there's a real need to buy the home gym exercise equipment.

To Buy Or Not To Buy Home Gym Exercise Equipment?

Here's a list of questions you should ask yourself before buying home exercise equipment:

  • Does the equipment fit your exercise goal?
  • Does the equipment fit your space and budget?
  • Will you use the equipment regularly to warrant the purchase?
  • Is the equipment safe?
  • Is the equipment durable?
  • Does the equipment have a warranty or guarantee?
  • Does the equipment have adjustable features to accommodate all of those who intend to use it?

Home Gym Exercise Equipment's Buying Guide

If you've decided to buy, I've some guidelines here to help you along.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offer the most important guideline i.e. evaluate advertising claims carefully!

  • Ignore claims that an equipment can give you long-lasting, easy, "no-sweat" results in a short time. Be real. You can't get the benefits of exercise unless you exercise
  • Be very careful of testimonials and before-and-after photo comparisons from "satisfied" customers. Just because they'd success with the equipment doesn't mean you'll too
  • Try out the home gym exercise equipment before you buy. If it's enjoyable to use, you're likely to use it regularly
  • Look for quality and prepare to pay for it. A low-quality equipment could be ill-fitting and lead to injury, not in good working condition and could quickly wear out

Higher-priced equipment bought from a reputable manufacturer, on the other hand, may be more economical in the long run because it holds up and performs well over time.

This doesn't mean that an expensive equipment is good for you - you still need to judge whether it meets your goal and purpose

  • Find out the full details on payment. Advertised versions like "5 easy payments of ..." or "only $29.90 a month" may not include shipping and handling charges, sales tax, and delivery and set-up fees!
  • Think about the space you've in your home gym. Some exercise equipment not only take up space, they require high ceiling to accommoadte their height as well

OK. It's time for you to decide which exericse equipment to buy.

I reckon you should go for 1 of these 3 most basic, varsatile equipments listed below. I believe they'll fit in well with your exercise goal and ftiness level.

Of course, you can go for other equipments such as the rowers, cross-country ski machines or the Roman chair.....it really boils down to your need and goal, preference and practicality of the equipment usage.

Treadmill Is One Home Gym Exercise Equipment You Can Invest In

A treadmills is great for walkers or runners, and has the advantage of a safe, weather-controlled environment. If you find treadmill workout boring, you should think twice before buying one.

I'm serious.

Because you're not likely to be motivated to do it and your treadmill is going to "rot" in a corner of your home gym.......and your hard-earned money wasted and gone.......

Treadmill comes in 3 models:

  • Computerized model from $4500 or more
  • Electronic or motorized model ranging from $2000 to $4000
  • Manual model ranging from $300 to $1200

The more expensive model has features which adjust the belt speed as well as the incline or elevation.

Most models are about 3 feet wide and 5 to 7 feet long. So space may not be a constraint here for you.

I provide here treadmill buying dos and don'ts so you'll not be ripped off in the process.....

Consider Stationary Bike As One Of Your Home Gym Exercise Equipments

Stationary bike is one of the popular exercise equipments purchased by exercisers.

It comes in many varieties, some costing less than $100 and others costing more than $2000.

The more expensive model is computerized and offer pre-programmed rides vide simulated hills and valleys.

Features such as a pulse sensor which monitors heart rate, calories consumed, pedal speed, elapsed time, current workload, maximum oxygen uptake are also offered.

If you're not interested in a high-tech bike, but want one which is of good quality, check into the $500 or more range. This range will give you quite good quality bikes and offers high standard of performance.

Watch out for the less expensive model. I've come across some which are made of substandard materials, not designed for heavy and regular use, become very noisy and not such a pleasure to ride and break down sooner than I like.

Stationary bike is quite space friendly as it takes up a floor space of 3 x 6 feet, so no worry for you there regarding space.

Ready For Stair Climber As A Piece Of Home Gym Exercise Equipment?

Stair climber is a popular exercise equipment. It firms your hips, thighs, buttocks, and legs, while you also get cardiovascularly fit.

A stair climber provides a great workout for about $2000 to $3000.

You can adjust for workload by increasing or decreasing steps per minute.

Computerized models offer consoles which display amongst others heart rate, calorie consumption, rate of exercise, time of exercise and a printout for a permanent record of exercise.

Less expensive models with less features and less durability are available for about $700 or less.

A stair climber usually requires a floor space of 4 feet x 4 feet, quite space-friendly too.

Include Multigym As One Of Your Home Gym Exercise Equipments?

A home multigym is designed to do a variety of exercises for your full body workout all in one machine.

It works all your major muscle groups: chest, shoulders, back, stomach, arms, and legs.

It requires a minimum of floor space, and a good quality one costs $1,000 upwards.

I think mutigym is great because it's such an efficient machine.
