How do I Get Some Curves Back on my Straight Body?

by Maria
(New York, NY)

I just figure out my body type is ectomorph. Here's my problem. I hate not having curves. I weigh 136 lbs and I am fairly toned. I do 30 minutes of cardio 5 times a week.

I usually use the elliptical but recently start to jog on the treadmill for a change. I do weight training 1 or 2 times a week. I start this routine exactly 1 year ago after having a baby.

I lose 27 lbs in total and I weigh less now than I did before I got pregnant. My goal was NOT to lose weight, I just want to tone up and lose the post-baby belly.

I have belly fat that I want to lose but I want to keep the weight in other places, like my butt. I have lost my butt and thighs and now have a straight looking figure. When I gain weight it all goes to my belly!

If I over eat you see it immediately in my belly! This is the reason why I do so much cardio; it's the only way to keep my belly down. How do I get my curves back and keep the belly fat away?

My Answer

Ah! Belly fat! It's a tough fat to lose for most of us ladies and it appears even tougher for post-natal women.

I always believe that the other effective weapon to battle the belly fat is through eating a healthy, well-balanced nutritious diet that promotes weight loss.

Exercise alone won't cut it. It has got to be a combination of the 2 together - exercise and a healthy diet.

Your exercises (cardio and weight training) are , I would say, quite effective in reducing your weight. However, if you can embark on eating diet that's friendly to your tummy, then I think you would see a flatter tummy soon.

Start eating foods that are good for losing tummy - fruits & vegetables; healthy nuts, legumes, beans; lean proteins and complex carbohydrates (sweet potatoes; potatoes; wholegrain bread/pasta/noodles) and last but not least, cut down on fat intake.

If you can do this one thing (meaning cutting down on fat intake), you would have already won half the battle against the bulge in your belly.

You may not know it but funnily, most of us ladies retain fat in our belly, thighs, hips and butts.

You don't have to entirely cut off the fat in your diet; just intelligently and smartly do it this way and you'll be more than pleased to see the belly fat melting away!

Try it out!
