How many days can I walk and run the treadmill in a week because I have been doing for 2 weeks now and I do it everyday except on Sundays.
My Answer
It all depends on what's your goal in doing the treadmill walking and running.
If you do it to maintain weight, then 3-4 times per week for at least 30 minutes per session, is more than enough to meet your goal.
On the other hand, if you do it to lose weight, then 4-5 times per week for 60 minutes per session, is sufficient for your purpose.
It's always good practice to exercise on alternate days as this allows your muscle some breathing space to rest in between the exercise routines, thus allowing it to recover from the exercise load you exert on it.
After the rest and recovery phase, you'll find that your muscle can respond better in subsequent exercise session, giving you more satisfying results.
You'll want to note that treadmill exercises (either walking/running/jogging) are pretty high intensive exercises which can help you to torch off quite a lot of calories in an hour session.
They are excellent cardio exercises that also bring you lots of benefits such as:
1. Lowering your blood pressure
2. Relieving your tension and stress
3. Improving your blood cholesterol levels
4. Easing diabetic condition
5. Improving your blood circulation
6. Increasing your oxygen intake
7. Strengthening your heart muscle, keeping it strong and healthy, hence decreasing your risk of heart diseases and strokes
As treadmill exercise is an indoor exercise, be prepared to get creative about doing it as the regular exercise routine can be quite boring, sometimes with only the 4 walls to look at! It's a torture to pass your time of say 1 hour, doing the same monotonous movement!
Do it while you watch TV or with a lively music or simply increase your inclines with short hills and elevations in betweeen the regular pace of walking/running/jogging could help vary your routine and make it more interesting.
