How Often Should Exercises Be Done?

by Diane

I am interested in several of the exercise techniques, how many times a week should I do the back exercises for example?

My Answer

The frequency of doing exercise really boils down to what your goal is.

Say, if you're looking to maintain your health and weight and keep your muscles in supple and firm forms, then a regular 3-4 times per week routine, for at least 30-45 minutes per session will be sufficient.

This 30-45 minute routine would include at least 30 minutes of cardio exercise and 10-15 minutes of back exercise.

The story is a bit different if you bent on losing weight.

The frequency will be more and the duration will be longer.

That should see you doing at least 4-5 times or 5-6 times per week for at least 60 minutes per session - at least 30-45 minutes of cardio exercise and 15-20 minutes of back exercise.

The purpose?

Well, to help you burn off more calories to lose weight, of course!

I would say working out on alternate days for 4-5 times per week would be a better deal as you would have time to allow your muscles to rest and recover.

Your muscles, after the rest, would be in "top form" to receive fresh rounds of impact you exert on them.
