How to Get Rid of Armpit Fat?

by Valerie
(Singapore)

I've armpit fat which looks really unappealing when I wear tube tops or sleeveless clothes. Is there anyway to get rid of them with exercise and/or diet?

My Answer

Armpit fat? I suppose you're talking about flabby upper arms? You know, you can see your "wing-y" arms "flapping" in the air when you raise your arms?

Well, if that's the case, then 3 simple things will help address your problem:

1. Do cardio exercise - this is the most direct way to boost your metabolism to higher level; helping you to burn off the excess fat from your body overall (that naturally includes the excess fat in your armpits), to lose the layer of fat covering your upper arms.

2. Workout your upper arms - by strength-training them which helps build beautiful lean muscle mass into them which in turn gives your upper arms more defined and nicer shapes and forms i.e. slimmer and tighter arms.

You need to workout the biceps and triceps as these 2 are the major muscle groups of your upper arms.

I've featured the arm workout here .

If you follow it consistently like say 3-4 times a week for 10-15 minutes per session and also the cardio exercise (3-4 times per week for at least 30 minutes per session), I believe you'll see results in about 8 weeks.

By the way, exercise alone will not cut it.

You need also to:

3. Eat a healthy, well-balanced nutritious diet that promotes weight loss. Eat in a smart way; don't go on a "diet" (where you limit your caloric intake to unreasonably low level or you force yourself to restrict food intake).

If you can cut down fat in all your food, you've already won half the "fat" battle.

May be you want to try out this smart way of cutting down fat?

fatty armpits...
by: Anonymous

I think the person who posted the complaint about 'armpit fat' wasn't referring to the ever-common 'wing' of fat that many untoned, overweight, or previously overweight people acquire.

I think she was referring to the area where the inner arm curves in to meet the breast area. I also have this problem where when I relax my arms at my side, there is that little U-shaped fold of fat in my armpit area. It doesn't seem to make any difference that I work out my arms, chest, tummy, legs, or anything...

I was just wondering if you knew any workouts or had any suggestions that would remedy this stress-inducing fatty area, or if you knew whether or not it was just something women get when their boobs get big...

The way I look at it, exercise alone may not relieve this arm problem....but exercise combines with a well-balanced nutritious diet that promotes weight loss may does the trick.
