Liposuction Story - One a Sweet Success; One a Bitter Flop.....

by Steve
(Singapore)

I have no liposuction (lipo for short) story to tell because I haven't gone for any but I would like to relate to you 2 stories from my friends who have gone for it.

One beautiful. one ugly.

I shall start with the beautiful story first.

Amanda

Amanda just had lipo on her tummy one month ago. She took the courage to do the lipo job because she had a tough time getting rid of the fat below her belly button no matter how hard she exercised and how healthy she ate.

Truth be told, the after-op pain was not that bad; she could still stand it as it was just a soreness which subsided as the days went by.

The one thing she loathed was that her skin hardened due to the inevitable bruising and her doctor told her that the hardened skin would get better as the bruising subsided.

Amanda was up walking the same day after the surgery. Apparently, the more she walked, the better for her. This was actually to promote blood circulation to her entire body, including the surgery part.

Amanda was in her bathing suit merely 3 weeks after her surgery, a record fast time for a tummy job. She's looking forward to wearing her bikini this mid-summer. And she loves her now flat tummy!

She's glad she's done lipo and for sure will do it on other parts of her body too.

The fact that Amanda gets such good results and has fantastic recovery is due I think, more to the following advantages she has:

  • She's young (21 years old); healthy and fit

  • She's physically active

  • She's trim

  • Her skin being young, is resilient and has good elasticity. These 2 skin qualities help to speed up her healing and she heals well

Now the ugly story.

Jess

Lipo costs Jess a lot, in money as well as nearly her life.

She thought that going under the knife (in March this year) to fix her problem areas: upper arms; inner thighs and butts would give back to her the beautiful body silhouette she once used to have.

Not only was she required to fork out monstrous sum of money (USD30,000) to do the surgery, she was near to death due to an over dosage of anesthesia administered to her. She was in coma for 4 days before she finally regain consciousness.

After this frightening episode, Amanda experienced the most excruciating after-op pain for nearly a month, as the doctor took out too much fat between her skin and muscles. She told me that the process of her skin re-attaching to her body was really a torture - it seared like a red hot iron on her flesh.

As her doctor took out too much fat from her and didn't liquefied the fat evenly, as a result, her body looked strange.

Jess's suffering didn't end here. Her healing was not smooth as the scars on her thighs and butts were deep, coarse and uneven. The skin in these 2 areas sagged like crazy also. She had resigned to the fact that she would have to live with these deformities in her body for life now.

Jess's doctor actually suggested that he could do a second op to lift up her skin but Jess said that there's no way she would go under the knife again.

My Observation

Go for Liposuction if you truly need it, like when your overweight is on the brink of threatening your health.

And even that, should your doctor tell you that you can still exercise and eat right to lose the weight, do it and don't opt for lipo.

You'll not only save money; you could do your body an excellent service by taking good care of it, not tampering and then deforming it with unnecessary surgeries.

If you really need lipo, then consider hiring the most competent doctor in the field to do it for you, to minimize the risks and to get good, satisfactory results.

Hiring cheapo doctor to do the surgery will ultimately cost you more money. If the doctor screws up the job, you'll have to pay even more to get it fixed. If you're unlucky, you'll get ugly scars that will stay with you for life!

So be on an alert look out when choosing a doctor. Ask for references and talk to the actual patients whom he/she have treated.
