Exercise Is One Solution To Your Lower Back Muscle Pain

Exercise Relieves your Lower Back Pain

Lower back muscle pain can be effectively relieved and or prevented by exercise as exercise tones, strengthens and stretches your lower back muscle to build up strong back muscles that are less proned to injury.

I'm not a medical expert on the subject of lower back muscle pain. What I want to relate to you here is the effect of exercise on relieving and or preventing the said pain.

Through exercise, you can keep your back healthy and strong and even prevent pain in the future.

I digress a bit here:

Lower back pain is a common medical problem afflicting two-thirds of Americans during some part of their lives.

Each year nearly 6 million Americans suffer from back problems, making it the most commonly reported health condition.

So you see how serious it's going to be if you don't take care of your back's health!

How the Pain Originates?

Right. Back on to the subject on hand.

First, we'll see how does lower back muscle pain come about.

The pain can be anything caused by a lumbar sprain to an actual rupture of a disc.

However, in most cases, the pain originates from muscle or ligament strain due to lifting, bending or overstretching.

Particularly, when a sudden, forceful movement injures a ligament which has become stiff or weak from poor conditioning or overuse.

As a result of the injury, your back muscles spasm, causing the muscles to "lock" and generate pain.

The pain can be either acute or chronic.

Acute pain - pain that lasts for a few days to a few weeks.

Chronic pain - pain that lasts for 3 months or more.

You want to be careful with this type of pain as sometimes it could mean a tumor, herniated disc, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis or other serious diseases.

So it's good to have a thorough check-up by a doctor.

Don't panic though!

In more than 95% of cases, the underlying cause is not serious.

For exercisers like you and I, the pain could be due to poor back muscle tone, unconditioned back muscles or simply just a case of injury to your back due to poor body form or incorrect techniques while exercising.

What Types of Exercises you should do?

Ah, now we come to how exercise helps to relieve and or prevent lower back muscle pain.

Exercises and stretches that strengthen your torso and create balance between your abdominals and your lower back are the types of exercises you should do.

Why the need to create balance between your abdominal and lower back muscles?

This is because these 2 muscle groups oppose each other and must be equally flexible and strong in order to prevent injury in one or the other.

You may have superb abdominals, but have weak lower back due to lack of toning and exercising.

This can cause your lower back to stress since your abdominals flex while your lower back stretches. If your lower back isn't flexible or strong, it'll pull involuntarily, usually causing spasms.

Core exercises are what you need to maintain this balance.

Then, for strong, healthy back, do lots of upper back and lower back exercises.

These 2 exercises powerfully tone and strengthen your back muscles so you're less susceptible to injury.

To create flexibility in your lower back muscles, do stretches for your lower back.

The stretches promote greater suppleness and agility in your back muscles and you become more flexible.

Flexible muscles are treasures to have!

Tone, Exercise and Stretch your Lower Back Muscles Regularly

You'll leave lower back muscle pain behind you and carry on with your life.....

The pain shouldn't be your concern now, should it?
